Skill vs. Power: Derieuw Fights Tejada For WBF World Title April 14

March 29, 2018

Oshin Derieuw will be looking to upgrade the WBF Intercontinental belt to the World title on April 14.

Reigning World Boxing Federation (WBF) Women’s Intercontinental Light Welterweight Champion Oshin Derieuw, 7-0 (4), is set to continue a meteoric rise towards the top, when she fights for the vacant WBF World title on April 14 in her home-town Henin-Beaumont, France.

If successful, she will have won the WBF International, Intercontinental, and captured the world title, within the last year, and she only made her professional debut two years ago. Turning 31 a few weeks after her upcoming fight, she is not wasting any time.

Her opponent will be Lina Tejada, 11-4 (9), a twenty-five year old from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. After almost seven years as a prize-fighter, this will be Tejada´s second shot at a world championship.

Last January Tejada lost on points to Alicia Melina Kummer in Germany, with no less than four world titles on the line. She is reportedly hell-bent on making sure she makes the most of her second chance at becoming a world champion.

Derieuw has proved in the past that she is a very gifted boxer, and Tejada will likely have an advantage in punching-power with nine of eleven victories coming inside the distance. So it will be interesting to see if technique or power prevails on April 14.
