Nozipho Bell from South Africa is the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Boxer of the Month for March 2019, after she dethroned then WBF World Featherweight Champion Unathi Myekeni on March 30 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Bell boxed a near perfect fight in what was her second consecutive shot at a world championship, having lost on points for the WBO Super Featherweight title in Poland last October, and never let an otherwise brave Myekeni into the fight.
Rareky do we see defending champions lose shutout decisions in a title defense, but that’s exactly what happened in this case as Myekeni didn’t win one round on any of the three judges scorecards.
