A busy Saturday, March 9, saw four new World Boxing Federation (WBF) champions crowned, three in Germany and one in Spain.
At the LEO´s Boxgym in Munich, undefeated Anthony Zaulig had little trouble winning the vacant WBF Intercontinental Super Middleweight title, stopping compatriot Lulzim Muaremi in the third round.
Former WBF International titlist Zaulig improved his professional record to 11-0 (5), while Muaremi drops to 19-15 (11).
On the same show, promoted by Lions Sports Promotion, Venezuelas Helber Rojas knocked out Fatih Duebues in the second round to win the vacant WBF Eurasia Light Welterweight title.
Rojas, a late replacement, goes to 23-10-2 (2). Duebues, from nearby Augsburg, falls to 11-3 (8).
At Jimmy´s Spielewelt in Hildesheim, Germany, veteran Omar Siala captured the vacant WBF International Super Welterweight title after a tough encounter with Tanzanian southpaw Daudi Mwita Mgaya.
It was an even fight for the most part, but in round nine Siala landed a well-placed hook to the liver to end the fight.
A pro for almost nineteen years, and still only thirty-five, Siala took his pro record to 42-21-3 (25). Mwita Mgaya (26) travels back to Tanzania at 5-2 (2).
In Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, Spain, local hero Jose Ramos Savin won the vacant WBF International Light Welterweight title by unanimous decision after ten rounds against Rafael Hernandez from Venezuela.
The rounds were close, but Ramos Savin edged most of them and was declared the winner by scores of 96-93, 97-92 and 98-92.
The new WBF champion stays undefeated at 18-0-1 (6). Hernandez drops to 36-20-4 (27).
