UPDATE: Result changed to
No-Contest on December 27, 2017
due to doping violation by
Lallemand. Da Costa Reinstated
as champion.
Every now and again a new star
appears, almost out of nowhere,
on the boxing skies. Justine
Lallemand from France is one of
those, as she came in as the
underdog, with only six pro
fights, and beat Anne Sophia Da
Costa (24-2) to win the WBF
Womens World Light Flyweight
title on October 28.
That impressive accomplishment
makes the undefeated 25-year-old
from Charleville-Méziéres an
easy pick as World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Boxer of the
Month for October 2017.
Now 7-0 (1), Lallemand had never
fought anyone of Da Costa´s
caliber, but she proved to be a
step above her more experienced
and accomplished compatriot,
the defending champion,
by winning a clear unanimous
decision (98-92, 98-92, 97-93.)
