Marquez won the vacant WBF World
Super Welterweight title on July
24 in his home-town Tuxtla
Gutierrez, beating undefeated El
Salvadorian Ricardo “Diamante”
Cortez.
The local favorite, now 10-1-1
(7), had to come off the floor
in round one, but took over the
fight and went on to
impressively win by ninth round
stoppage.
