Thato Bonokoane completely
resurrected his career when he
won the vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) World Super
Bantamweight title on October 9
in Gqeberha, South Africa.
The WBF Intercontinental
champion going in, but with a
mediocre 13-5-3 (9) record
despite coming off two excellent
title-defenses, Bonokoane
defeated Argentinian Diego
Alberto Ruiz by majority
decision.
It was a magnificent fight,
reportedly a leading candidate
for WBF Fight of the Year, and
by deservedly winning Bonokoane
proved that you can come back
from rough patches and reach the
top.
Between 2019 and 2021 he only
won two of seven fights, but now
he is champion of the world, and
the WBF Boxer of the Month for
October.
