WBF world middleweight champion
Kreshnik “The Eagle” Qato
successfully defended his title
in Dessau, Germany on October
24, scoring a wide unanimous
decision over game and
aggressive Italian challenger
Fabio Liggieri.
Qato, a London-based Albanian,
fought smart and counter-punched
effectively throughout the
entertaining bout, and landed by
far the most telling blows while
Liggieri kept coming forward and
tried to take control. However,
after twelve rounds there was no
doubt about the rightful winner,
and Qato’s hands were raised.
After loosing six of his first
eleven fights, Qato is now
undefeated in his last sixteen
outings (21-6). The fight was
promoted by SES Boxing
and Fight Production and
televised delayed in Albania on
Ora News.
The plan is to keep Qato busy
with two further defences over
the next four or five months.
