The longest reigning current
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
World titlist, Womens
Lightweight Champion Nicole
Wesner, is dedicating her fifth
title-defense, set for July 6 in
Vienna against Bosnian Pasa
Malagic, to late former WBF
Executive Director Olaf
Schroeder and recently passed
Juergen Lutz from the WIBF.
Olaf
put all his heart into boxing
and the people behind it, says
Wesner. I always loved talking
to him about not only boxing,
but about many things in the
world.
Juergen
was one of the people who paved
the way for female boxing to be
where it is now. Both left the
earth too early, but left us
here to remember them. I am
dedicating my fight on July 6 to
their memory.
An Austria-based German, Wesner,
15-0 (7), won the WBF and WIBF
World titles in December of
2014, stopping Gina Chamie
(11-1) from Hungary in three
rounds. She has since made four
successful defences, and added
the GBU belt to her collection.
In Malagic, 12-5 (3), she will
be facing a tough challenger,
who has only lost to very good
opponents such as current WBO
World Champion Ewa Brodnicka,
current WBA and WBC World
Champion Jelena Mrdjenovich,
then unbeaten Zerina Mehmedovic
and French contender Prisca
Vicot.
The aforementioned Vicot, 10-6
(2) will fight in the evenings
co-feature, as she takes on an
opponent to be confirmed for the
Interim WBF Womens World Light
Welterweight title. The
undercard will feature both
boxing and K1 bouts.
