FIGHT
OFF/POSTPONED!
Despite suffering an unexpected
defeat already in his third pro
outing, 20-year-old Simon
“Hitman” Ngoma, 6-1 (4), is by
many considered one of the most
promising Zambian prospects on
the scene.
On March 28 in his home-town
Lusaka, in a classic youth vs.
experience match-up, he takes on
former Tanzanian champion Sadiki
Momba, 27-10-3 (12), for the
vacant World Boxing Federation
(WBF) Intercontinental
Lightweight title.
The fight will be the main event
of a card promoted by Exodus
Boxing Academy, and is expected
to be another tough test for the
young hope.
When, at only eighteen, Ngoma
lost on points to former Zambian
national titlist Peter Pambeni
(10-3-1) in March of 2018 he was
not ready for the step-up.
Since then he has rebounded well
and passed all tests, including
victories against Tatenda
Paradza (1-0), Ndodana Ncube
(5-0) and Israel Kammwamba
(11-5-1).
Time will tell if he is now
ready for another step-up in
class against Momba (31), who is
coming off two victories and is
full of confidence that he can
take the up-and-comer man to
school.
Ngoma has won his last three
fights by knockout, all in the
third round, and will be looking
to also get rid of Momba in
quick time.
