When two unbeaten world
champions face each other inside
the ring, the fans will be in
for something special.
There will be no exception from
this rule on May 27, when
reigning and defending WBF and
WBO middleweight world champion
Christina Hammer (9-0, 7 K.o.’s)
will put her belts on the line
against Maria Lindberg (5-0-2, 1
K.o.), the number one ranked
light middleweight in female
boxing and current WIBA and WIBF
champion.
The fight will take place as the
co-feature of the European light
middleweight championship
between Lukas Konecny and
Hussein Bayram at the Zlatoramen
Arena in Usti, Czech Republic.
The show will be promoted by Ulf
Steinforth’s SES-Boxing.
The 20-years old Hammer, who
captured the vacant WBF strap in
February, started camp for the
biggest fight of her career two
weeks ago and set her sights on
a succesfull first defense of
her titles. Her coach Dirk
Dzemski said: “Christina is a
special talent. We have to work
on her technique but she has a
great fighting spirit. And
that’s worth more than anything
else.”
Although having a disadvantage
in height and reach, the Swedish
challenger Lindberg, age 34,
will try to impose her better
technical skills and speed on
the bigger Hammer in order to
become a two-division world
champion in Usti. She will be
making her debut at 160 pounds
come fight night.
The boxing world is in for a
real thread between two of the
very best female fighters
around. And as always when two
unbeaten boxers square off:
