Former World Boxing Federation
(WBF) World Super Welterweight
Champion Rafael Bejeran is
making moves back towards the
top, and won the vacant WBF
Intercontinental Middleweight
title on Sunday, October 3, in
Hamburg, Germany.
At the Grosse Freiheit 36,
Bejeran, from the Dominican
Republic but based in Germany
for most of his career, scored a
unanimous decision over Belgian
Islam Teffahi after a tough
nights work fought at close
quarters.
Judge Marco Morales scored the
fight 97-93, Judge Hendrik
Schramm 99-92 and Judge Klaus
Hagemann 99-91. The fight was
closer than the wide scores
indicate.
With his third straight victory,
Bejeran (39) improved his
professional record to 29-5-1
(12). Teffahi (38) falls to
22-10-2 (5).
In the evenings co-feature,
Bosnia & Herzegovina-born Elvir
Sendro captured the vacant WBF
Intercontinental Cruiserweight
title, stopping compatriot Leon
Maric (19) in round three with a
well-placed hook to the liver.
Up until the time of the
stoppage it had been an even
fight, but Sendro (26) found the
decider and improved his
unbeaten record to 9-0 (9).
Marid drops to 4-2 (4).
The WBF Championship
double-header was promoted by
Boxen im Norden.
