Last December, a fight between
Selemani Kidunda and Erick Katompa
ended in a technical draw after only
four rounds of boxing, due to
injury.
That fight was for the World Boxing
Federation International Super
Middleweight title, but now they
will rematch on July 30 in Songea,
Tanzania with the vacant WBF
Intercontinental title at stake.
Undefeated Kidunda is 7-0-1 (7)
since turning pro three years ago,
and the reining Tanzanian national
champion.
Katompa, from Kinshasa, D. R. Congo,
enters the fight at 13-1-1 (5). This
will be his third fight in Tanzania,
having beat former WBF titlist
Abdallah Paziwapazi prior to his
first encounter with Kidunda.
Kidunda (38) has proven he has the
power to hurt most foes, but Katompa
(32) is probably the best opponent
he has faced so far, and both will
be looking to end what was started
last year.
The fight, staged at the Majimaji
Stadium, headlines a huge card
promoted by Peak Time Promotions,
with currently nineteen bouts
scheduled for the undercard.
