Last March Arnold Gjergjaj captured
the vacant World Boxing Federation
(WBF) Intercontinental Heavyweight
title when he stopped Germany´s
Dominic Vial in two rounds.
Now the Kosovo-born,
Switzerland-based, champion is set
to make his first defense on June
24, headlining “Arnold Boxing Night”
at Airporthotel in Basel.
“The
Cobra”, who has compiled a 35-3 (26)
record since turning pro in 2009,
will face Latvian challenger
Kristaps Zutis, 7-3-2 (7).
Zutis, five years the younger man at
33, may bring mediocre statistics to
the fight, but is known as a
danger-man who has the power to hurt
most opponents and always fights his
chance.
Gjergjaj is by far the more
experienced and accomplished boxer,
but should not take Zutis lightly in
what is the biggest opportunity so
far for the Latvian.
The fight, promoted by Bekim
Gjergjaj´s Arnold Boxfit, will be
preceded by an undercard consisting
of both professional and amateur
bouts.
