World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental champion Arnold
Gjergjaj is set to go next level,
when he takes on Bilal Laggoune for
the vacant WBF world Heavyweight
title on September 2 at the
Landgasthof in Riehen, Switzerland.
Should he be victorious, it would be
a perfect four-fight run for the
Swiss-based Kosovan, which included
winning and defending the WBF
Intercontinental, since he returned
to the ring in the summer of 2022,
following three years of inactivity.
38-year-old Gjergjaj is 36-3 (27)
since turning professional in 2009,
while Belgium´s Laggoune (30) brings
a 26-3-2 (14) record in a pro career
starting in 2011, and this looks
like a 50/50 match-up, or at least
close to it.
Laggoune began his paid campaign at
Heavyweight, but went on to fight at
Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight,
winning various regional titles,
before returning to Heavyweight last
year. Like Gjergjaj, he is entering
his first world championship
opportunity.
Gjergjaj last fought this past April
when he defended the WBF
Intercontinental title by knocking
out Latvian Kristaps Zutis in the
fourth round. Laggoune is coming off
a decision victory over Serbian
Stefan Mihailov.
Arnold “The Cobra” Gjergjaj vs.
Bilal Laggoune for the vacant WBF
World Heavyweight title will be
promoted by Bekim Gjergjaj
