Austria's Stefan Nikolic is the new
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Cruiserweight
champion after winning the vacant
title on Saturday, September 16.
At the Hotel InterContinental in
Vienna, Nikolic defeated Swedish
co-challenger Samo Jangirov by wide
unanimous decision.
Judges Hilmi Bagci and Sven Graefe
both scored the fight 99-91, while
judge Rainer Schwarz had it a
shut-out 100-90.
It was Nikolic second attempt to win
the title, as he was upset by
Colombian Julio Cesar Calimeno
almost exactly a year ago at the
same venue. This was his third
straight victory since.
The new WBF champion improved his
professional record to 9-1 (7).
Jangirov, a former Swedish national
champion, falls to 8-5-3 (1).
The fight headlined a card promoted
by Daniel Nader´s Bounce
Boxpromotion.
