South Africa vs. Tanzania match-ups
will decide two vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Intercontinental
titles on February 17 in Escort,
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
At Super Bantamweight, undefeated
puncher Mxolisi Zuma, 6-0 (6), is
heading into his biggest test to
date as he faces the experienced
Ally Mwerangi, 13-7 (9).
Zuma won the WBF International title
last August with a first round
demolition of fellow countryman
Awonke Tini, and is now looking to
add a second WBF belt to his resume.
Mwerangi has boxed in the UK, Russia
and Mexico, besides his native
Tanzania, so will have no issues
going abroad for the opportunity to
become WBF champion.
In the co-featured bout,
Nkosingiphile Sibisi, 6-0 (2), will
also be stepping up in class, facing
Ramadhan Pido, 11-2-2 (2), for the
vacant title at Flyweight.
For both men it is an opportunity to
win their first significant title in
the professional ranks.
