The World Boxing Federation is
excited to announce the addition
of Denmark’s Torben Seemann
Hansen to its staff, who will
become the first chairman of the
organizations’ Executive
Committee with immediate effect.
At the same time, the duties of
the ExCo have been re-formulated
and extended and it will now
also act as a task force in
developing strategies to achieve
the WBF’s objectives and
optimize its activities.
To that effect, WBF President
Howard Goldberg (South Africa)
and WBF Vice President Jean
Marcel Nartz (Germany) have
resigned from the Committee,
with new members to be added in
due course on Seemann Hansen’s
recommendations.
With Torben, the WBF has gained
a true authority and a fine
administrator who enjoys a high
reputation in boxing circles
worldwide. Besides being an
accomplished judge in 167
international championship
bouts, Torben is a former vice
president of the European Boxing
Union (EBU), and headed many
committees for them over the
years. He is still serving as
EBA (European Boxing
Association) vice president and was
both General Secretary and
chairman of the Danish
Federation and also held
administrative posts with the
WBC and the minor IBO. The
experience which Torben
accumulated in more than 40
years in the sport will now be
put to use for the World Boxing
Federation.
In other news WBF internal news,
John Levy Prado has been
appointed Regional
Representative for Panama and
will work under the Continental
Coordinator for Latin America,
Sergio Sotelo. Also, Italy’s
Matteo Fratini was released from
his positions as ExCo member and
Honory Consultant, but the WBF
hopes he will continue to accept
assignments as judge. |
