19-year-old Lucas Migotti, 8-1 (4),
gets a chance to show that he is a
man for the future, when he fights
for his first title, the vacant
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Welterweight, on
June 8 in Aimargues, France.
The teenager from nearby Montpellier
will face reigning Belgian national
champion Anthony Loffet, 12-3 (2),
who at twenty-six and with several
championship fights on his resume is
significantly more experienced.
Migotti turned professional in March
of 2023, and went the usual route of
building his record while learning
his trade against somewhat
underwhelming opposition.
But he had just scored his best
victory over Argentinian journeyman
Sergio Javier Escobar last December,
when he shockingly lost by first
round stoppage to Georgian Goga
Kavtaradze in February.
He rebounded with a first round
knockout of another Georgian,
Tornika Surmava, in April, and now
he is aiming to get his career
firmly back on track by winning the
WBF title against by far his most
accomplished opponent to date.
Anthony Loffet won the Belgian
Welterweight title with a decision
over previously undefeated Elias El
Hadj Messoud this past January.
Like Migotti he suffered a
surprising defeat in February when
Bosnian Ivan Blazevic edged him by
split decision, but he also came
back with a win in April to set up
the big opportunity in France on
June 8.
The fight will be part of a big show
promoted by Boxing Club
Montpellierain at the Arenes
DŽAimargues.
