Three new World Boxing Federation
(WBF) champions were crowned on
Saturday night, November 9. Two in
France, and one in Zimbabwe.
In Sanvignes Les Mines, France, late
substitute Jorge Pinilla from Spain
surprisingly beat local favourite
Mickael Lacombe in a thriller to win
the vacant WBF International Super
Welterweight title.
After an excellent back-and-forth
fight, Pinilla stopped Lacombe with
a body-shot in round seven,
improving his deceiving professional
record to 8-4 (2). Lacombe drops to
13-9-1 (7).
In Reims, Ibrahim “Baka” Traore
decisioned Martin Sedlak from the
Czech Republic to win the WBF
Interim International Cruiserweight
title.
The unanimous decision was 98-92
from judge Smail Alitouche, 97-93
from judge Patrick Devergne, and
96-94 from judge Zuici.
Traore goes to 11-10-1 (2), while
Sedlak falls to 6-5 (6).
On the other side of the globe, in
Harare, Zimbabwe, Hasan “Starboy”
Milanzi took home the vacant WBF
International Super Bantamweight
title by stopping Malawi´s Clifford
Antafu in five rounds.
26-year-old Milanzi is now 13-3-1
(8) as a professional. Antafu is
6-8-1 (2).
