The Medical Advisor of the World
Boxing Federation, Dr. Adam
Balogh, has recently taken over
the surgery department as chief
physician of the prominent
Helios Clinic in Huels, Germany.
The 47-year-old Dr. Balogh, who
has studied medicin at Budapest
University, is prominent for
spearheading the so-called
‘small-cut-surgery’, and has
used this method of operating
already over 300 times. In what
is correctly called Single
Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS),
surgery on organs such as gall
bladder, stomach, appendix or
colon are performed through a
very minor cut in the navel,
thus leave no scars and are very
conservative on the patient.
The private Helios Clinic Group
is one of the largest on the
German medical market catering
for over 2 million patients
annually and operates 64 own
clinics.
Married with three children, Dr.
Balogh is in addition a Fellow
of the American Hernia Society
and of the European Societies of
Surgery, Coloproctology and
Endocrine Surgery. In 2010, he
became the WBF Medical Advisor
and created the
General
Medical Guidelines
for the organization, which
stand out as a piece of
excellence in boxing medical
care.
“The WBF wishes Dr. Balogh much
success in his new and very
responsible job,” said WBF vice
president Jean Marcel Nartz, “We
are glad to be associated with
such a leading physician. Boxing
stands to benefit from experts
like him." |
