Last week, a five-men group of
WBF executives lead by president
Howard Goldberg of South Africa
headed to Albania to appoint
Ylli Ndroqi, one of his
countries foremost businessman
and huge boxing supporter, as
Honory President of the World
Boxing Federation. Besides a
multitude of business interests,
Mr. Ndroqi also is in the
process of building up the
Albanian professional boxing
commission and has turned WBF
world middleweight champion
Kreshnik Qato into one of his
countries’ major all-time sports
heroes.
During a ceremony shown live on
national television, WBF
president Goldberg said about
Mr. Ndroqi’s upcoming
involvement with his
organization:
“The World Boxing Federation
wants and needs to surround
itself with successful people,
people who know what they are
doing and, most importantly, get
things done. Our good friend
Ylli fits this discription and
we thank him for accepting the
position of Honory President,
because we know he will be a
great asset for us.”
Goldberg, together with vice
president Ron Scalf from
Tenneessee, also held an
executive meeting in Tirana with
European Coordinator Olaf
Schroeder and executive members
Jean-Marcel Nartz and Tonio
Tiberi. The biggest news to come
out of the meeting is the
confirmation that the World
Boxing Federation will be
holding its first world
convention in Tirana on the last
weekend of April 2010. Further
details will follow shortly on
this website. |
