The unbeaten World Boxing Federation lightweight champion of the world, Mlungisi 'The Shark' Dlamini, was tragically killed in a motor accident on the evening of Friday 29 January. Dlamini was unbeaten with a record of 21-0-1 with 13 knockouts, and was rated # 15 in the world on Boxrec.

A champion inside and outside the ring, the World Boxing Federation extends its deepest condolences to Dlamini's family on this tragic loss.

WBF President and friend of Dlamini, Howard Goldberg expressed his shock and sadness at Dlamini's passing saying:

“Dlamini was a fantastic person and a brilliant boxer destined for great things. He must be remembered for the good person he was, as well as all the good he brought to the boxing game. He thrilled and entertained fans with his greatness and he will never be forgotten."

"It certainly has been a privilege for me to have known Mlungisi and to have watched his fantastic skills in action. I wish to convey my personal as well as the WBFed's deepest condolences to the family.”
