In consideration of her
retirement from professional
boxing, WBF President Howard
Goldberg took time out to pay
tribute to the great, two-weight
World Boxing Federation champion
Holly Holm.
In his message conveyed by WBF
Regional Representative Alan
Santana, who supervised Holm’s
final boxing match, the
successful defence of the WBF
Womens World Light Welterweight
crown against Mary McGee last
weekend, Goldberg said on the
female boxing legend:
"The World Boxing Federation
pays tribute to Holly Holm. She
has over the past several years
proved herself to be a true
champion. A humble woman who has
reached the highest peaks
throughout her career and a
woman who is an inspiration not
only to boxers, but to athletes
around the world.
We know this is an emotional
farewell to boxing for Holly,
but we also know that an
exciting new challenge awaits
her, and knowing her, challenges
that surely will be, with hard
work and dedication, conquered.
We also congratulate Lenny
Fresquez of Fresquez Productions
for all his hard work and
excellence in promoting Holly
and guiding her to so many world
title victories and successes.
The World Boxing Federation
thanks you, Holly, and wishes
you and your family all the best
for the future - you are,
and always will be a true
champion in whatever you do.” |
