On Sunday June 16 at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa, reigning South African Champion Mzolisi Yoyo added the World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Light Welterweight title to his resume by completely annihilating fellow countryman Luyanda Jako.

This was a rematch of their 2008 encounter, which Yoyo won in five rounds, and Jako would fare no better this time despite longing for revenge and proclaiming that things would be different the second time around.

The hard-hitting Yoyo started the bout fast, and knocked his opponent down midway through the first round. In the second, he continued to punish Jako badly, and it was no big surprise that the battered Southpaw from Tembisa didn’t come out for round three.

Mzolisi Yoyo improved his professional record to 21-4 (16), while Luyanda Jako dropped to 9-7-1 (4).

The new WBF Intercontinental Champion boldly announced after the fight that he has WBF World Champion Zolani Marali in his sights. Both are from the same town, Mdantsane, and it would be a huge local event.

Promoter of the fight was Ayanda Matiti.
