World Boxing Federation
Intercontinental Cruiserweight
Champion Ben Nsafoah, 15-8-2
(8), will travel to Ninove,
Belgium to defend his title on
June 29 against incredibly
experienced local campaigner
Ismail Abdoul, 48-27-2 (19).
Originally from Ghana but based
in Germany, Nsafoah turned
professional in his adopted home
country in 2008. He won the
German national championship the
following year, and made one
successful defense before
relinquishing the title.
In 2011 Nsafoah won the WBF
title when he scored a unanimous
decision over the undefeated
Bjoern Blaschke, in what was
probably his best performance to
date.
After an unsuccessful foray into
the Heavyweight division,
resulting in two losses to
undefeated opponents, Nsafoah is
now back to roam at
Cruiserweight where he plans to
send Abdoul packing in front of
his countrymen.
But former Belgian Champion
Abdoul has undoubtedly seen it
all in his career, being one of
the most experienced
Cruiserweight in Europe, and has
no less than twenty-three title
fights and a slew of big names
on his resume.
Current world title-holder
Krysztof Wlodarczyk is the only
man who ever managed to stop
Abdoul inside the distance (in
round twelve!), while Tomasz
Adamek, Enzo Maccarinelli, Marco
Huck and David Haye only managed
to beat Abdoul on points after a
hard nights work.
Having won numerous titles since
turning pro in 1996, 36-year-old
Abdoul is reportedly as fit and
ready as ever to make a strong
attempt to dethrone Nsafoah.
Usually he is the one going on
the road for championship
fights, but this time he will
enjoy the support of his own
fans.
The Ben Nsafoah vs. Ismail
Abdoul WBF Intercontinental
title fight in Ninove, Belgium
will be promoted by Ezzedine
Laggoune.
