Not only will it be an
all-Mexican encounter on August
17 when the vacant World Boxing
Federation Womens World Light
Flyweight title is on the line
in Jalpa, Mexico, it will also
be a genuine battle of local
pride!
Experienced 31-year-old Ana “La
Bronca” Arrazola will square off
with ten years younger
compatriot Guadalupe Martinez
(21) on a show promoted by Ansel
Promotions.
Both fighters are from
Tlalnepantla, north of Mexico
City, and both of them will be
fighting their hearts out to
return home with the WBF belt
and not a loss.
Having won the Mexican national
title and a few regional
championships, Arrazola (17-9-2,
13 KOs) is a former five-time
world title-challenger. She came
up short against world
title-holders Yesica Yolanda
Bopp (twice), Susi Kentikian,
Katia Gutierez and Ji-Hyun Park,
all on points, so now she is as
hungry as ever to finally become
world champion.
Guadalupe Martinez (4-3, 3 KOs)
is, while rather inexperienced
compared to her up-coming
adversary, also a former world
title-challenger.
Only this past April she dropped
a decision to world Super
Flyweight titlist Daniela Romina
Bermudez in Argentina, so she
will be moving down two weight
classes to attempt to fulfill
her dream the second time
around.
WBF President Howard Goldberg
sees this bout as an intriguing
encounter between experience and
youth, saying:
“As all boxing fans know,
Mexican boxers, both men and
women, almost always put
everything into a fight and give
the spectators a great show. And
when two Mexicans fight each
other for a world championship,
it’s almost guaranteed that
sparks will fly. Arrazola vs.
Martinez is very likely to
deliver excitement!”
