When WBF Oceania Coordinator
Ricky Bushell stages a charity
corporate boxing show at the
Civic Centre of his hometown
Feilding, New Zealand on October
26 to raise money for a severely
brain damaged 7-year-old, the
World Boxing Federation will
also be in the ring and support
the cause.
Two years ago, little Jordan
Breach choked on a toy block and
as a result of not getting
oxygen sustained a brain injury
leaving him requiring 24/7 care
and extensive special equipment.
All the funds Bushell’s show
will raise are to be used to
continue Jordan’s ongoing
treatments, therapies, equipment
and medical needs.
Bushell plans eleven blue collar
bouts with mostly local fitness
enthusiast who never before had
gloves on.
“All of them volunteered their
time and effort to train and box
for this show,” said the WBF’s
man in Oceania, himself a former
pro fighter.
The World Boxing Federation,
together with their equipment
partner TOP TEN from Germany,
donated a unique WBF
championship belt and many
T-shirts, which Bushell plans to
get signed by boxing stars
before auctioning it all off to
the audience.
Earlier this year, Ricky Bushell
established the World Boxing
Federation in New Zealand, with
three WBF title bouts having
taken place already in that
country and with Australian
female stars Shannon O’Connell
and Arlene Blencowe recently
winning WBF womens world titles,
the Oceania region is set to
become a WBF hotbed.
