On Saturday night (November 30),
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Womens World championship fights
took place in France and Russia,
as undefeated Gaelle Amand won
the vacant Featherweight crown,
and Super Middleweight champion
Nikki Adler retained her title.
With 2500 fans cheering her on
at the Esplanade de Paris
in
Cergy, France, Amand defeated
former world champion Irma
Balijagic Adler from Bosnia &
Herzegovina (no relation to
Nikki) by unanimous decision
after ten rounds of tactical
boxing from both fighters.
Judges Vincent Dupas,
Jean-Marcel Nartz and Arnold
Golger scored it 97-93, 97-94
and 99-91 respectively. Referee
was Jean-Pierre VanImschoot.
Amand, who is now obligated to
defend the title against world
champion in recess Shannon
O'Connell from Australia,
improved her undefeated record
to 11-0 (1), while Adler falls
to 14-5 (7). Promoter of the
fight was
Rahilou Cergy Boxe.
In Grozny, Russia, at the
Olympic Sports Complex, Germanys
Nikki Adler went over old ground
as she made her first defense of
the WBF World Super Middleweight
title against Zane Brige from
Latvia, whom she also won the
title against in Russia this
past May.
While the pair gave each other
another good fight, it was the
same result in the end as Adler
proved the better boxer again
and won a clear unanimous
decision after a competitive
bout.
Bela Florian and Olena
Pobyvalilo both scored it 97-93,
while Irene Kosteko scored 98-92
for the defending champion, who
improved her record to 11-0 (6).
