There have been a few additions
to the WBF management team over
the last few weeks, as the World
Boxing Federation continues to
spread into more and more
countries over the globe.
Keeping with the “Ladies First”
theme, Irene Schweizer was
welcomed by WBF President Howard
Goldberg as part of the family,
taking over representation in
Russia.
“It’s a huge market and a giant
task, but we have full faith in
Irene living up to it,” said the
WBF head from his Cape Town,
South African office.
Next, Goldberg’s former Vice
President Matteo Fratini finally
relocated from Italy to the
Dominican Republic and return to
the World Boxing Federation as
representative for his new
domicile.
Young Jim Claude Manangquil from
General Santos City inhabited
the position of Philippines
representative. Although just 23
years of age, Manangquil boosts
quite some experience already,
having managed his first
professional boxer while still
in his teens.
“While experience is an
important factor, it is equally
important to have young,
innovative people on our staff
and Jim Claude has certainly
started with a promise,”
comments Goldberg, referring to
the WBF’s (since its re-birth in
2009) first fight in the
Philippines earlier this month
which saw hot prospect Jake
Bornea grabbing the WBF
International flyweight crown.
In the meantime, the
branching-out process of the
World Boxing Federation shall
continue steadily in 2014,
reveals WBF Vice President Jean
Marcel Nartz from Germany, who
is already in promising talks
with further additions to the
WBF family.
