World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Womens World Middleweight
Champion Christina Hammer
successfully defended her title
for the seventh time on Saturday
night (March 1), when she
defeated former world champion
Jessica Balogun at the GETEC
Arena in Magdeburg, Germany.
Going out to millions of viewers
live on SAT1 television in
Germany and by web-stream to
boxing fans world wide, Hammer
again made a clear statement
that she is the best in her
weight-class, and one of the
very best pound-for-pound female
boxers on the planet.
While the challenger was game
from the outset, and tried her
best to unsettle the taller
champion, Hammer was just too
smart and skilled, using her
longer reach magnificently, and
after ten rounds of boxing there
was no doubt about who would get
her hands raised.
All three judges had Hammer
winning every round, and the
fight 100-90.
Still only 23 years old, and a
world champion in two weight
classes after also winning and
relinquishing the WBF World
Super Middleweight crown last
year, Hammer improved her
undefeated professional ledger
to 17-0 (8), while Balogun (25)
falls to 23-3 (11).
Promoter of the fight was SES
Boxing.
