Two new World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Champions were
crowned on Saturday night, March
22, at the Sportpalast in
Bielefeld, Germany, as Hungarian
promotional outfit Profibox-Promotion
went abroad to present a stacked
card of action-packed bouts.
Zoltan Sera captured the vacant
International Super Welterweight
title with a technical decision
after five good rounds over
fellow Hungarian Sandor Micsko.
An accidental headbutt in round
two cut Sera, and the injury
developed to a degree that the
bout had to be stopped three
rounds later.
It was a split decision, as
scoring referee Janos Baranyi
and judge Tamas Sasvari had Sera
ahead by 48-47, while judge
Alexander Plumanns had Southpaw
Micsko in the lead by the same
score. A rematch would be very
recommendable, as the boxer vs.
puncher match-up was shaping up
to get even better down the
stretch.
Zoltan Sera improved his
professional record to 14-1 (9),
and Sandor Micsko, a former WBF
International Champion at
Middleweight, falls to 22-5-2
(16).
In another all-Hungarian battle,
former two-time world
title-challenger Renata Domsodi
won the vacant Womens
International Bantamweight title
when she scored a unanimous
decision over previously
undefeated Alexandra Vlajk.
Domsodi set the pace from the
start and quickly took control
against her less experienced
opponent. With nice
counter-punching and hard
body-shots, Domsodi was clearly
the more skilled boxer, but
Vlajk proved game throughout and
tried in spurts to turn the tide
with wild hooks.
After eight rounds of action
Alexander Plumanns scored the
bout 77-75, and Janos Baranyi
and Tamas Sasvari both scored it
79-73, all for Domsodi.
The new champion is now 12-4 (5)
in the professional ranks, while
Vlajk drops to 5-1 (1).
