Last October, falling sick a few
days before, he had to cancel a
WBFed world title shot, but
Austria’s Gogi ‘Lionheart’
Knezevic, 18-2-1 (8), has not
given up on that elusive dream
of capturing a world crown.
Still hoping that World Boxing
Federation champion Kreshnik
Qato will grant him the
opportunity, Knezevic now goes
for the vacant WBFed
Intercontinental middleweight
title in his Vienna hometown on
June 26. “I feel so strong now
and I hope that winning this
title will lead me to a world
title chance,” says Knezevic.
The 30-year-old has already won
the International titles of
Austria and Serbia, although a
division below at
superwelterweight, but is now
firmly established as a middle.
A second Intercontinental title
will be contested on the same
show when unbeaten
Swiss-Albanian cruiserweight
Sefer Seferi, a huge puncher
with a 10-0 (9) record, meets
experienced Adnan Buharalija,
21-8-2 (14) of Bosnia &
Herzegovina.
Howard Goldberg, president of
the World Boxing Federation, is
planning to attend the show and
fly in from his currently
football (soccer) crazy home of
Cape Town, South Africa.
