Undefeated European (EBU) Super
Featherweight champion Eva
Wahlström today announced that
she will relinquish her title in
favor of challenging for the new
Unified Womens World
Championship on April 24 in
Helsinki, Finland.
Wahlström holds a splendid
record of 13-0-1 (3) and will
clash with Irma Balijagic of
Bosnia, who already challenged
twice for WBF world titles,
losing to outstanding champions
Ramona Kuehne (at super
featherweight in 2010) and
Gaelle Amand (at featherweight
in 2013), both on points only.
Balijagic’ record stands at 15-5
(8).
“I
have won and defended the EBU
title and proved I am among the
best female Super Featherweights
in the world, now it’s time to
make the next step forward in my
career,” explained Wahlström.
“And
what better way than to
challenge for the most
legitimate title now around, the
Unified Womens World
Championships!”
