Richard
Baraynyi won the vacant World
Boxing Federation (WBF)
International Light Heavyweight
title in spectacular fashion on
Sunday night, June 14, when he
scored a brutal knockout of
fellow Hungarian Zsolt Dudas at
the Hotel Aquincum in Budapest.
Baranyi
showed from the start that he
was the better schooled boxer,
but Dudas was determined and
tried his best to make his mark
by being the aggressor. However,
Baranyi was very effective in
countering the wild attacks from
Dudas, winning the first two
rounds on two of the judges
cards.
In round
three Baranyi landed with some
hard shots as Dudas came
forward, and clearly hurt his
man. Sensing it instantly
Baranyi switched to attack-mode
and finished the fight with a
huge right hand. Dudas hit the
deck so hard that referee Bela
Florian didn’t bother to count,
instead calling for the doctor
to attend to Dudas.
Dudas quickly
regained his senses, and could
congratulate the new champion
with his victory. Time of
stoppage was 2:12 of round
three.
The new WBF
International Champion improved
his professional record to 12-1
(10), while Dudas lost for the
first time in the paid ranks and
drops to 7-1 (2). At only
24-years of age, and with
significant power in his fists,
Baranyi showed potential to go
far.
Televised in
Hungary by FIX TV, Baranyi vs.
Dudas was the main event of a
show promoted by
Profibox-Promotion, and was
preceded by a stacked undercard
that included three Hungarian
national title fights.
