Professional
boxing takes center stage on
French Polynesian island Tahiti,
when local man Cedric Bellais
faces United Kingdoms George
Hillyard for the vacant World
Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Super
Middleweight title on Saturday
June 27.
They will
fight at the Salle Babo Aitamai
in beautiful Fautaua near the
city of Papeete, on a show
promoted by
AS Te U´ino
Manotahi, and sanctioned by the
French Professional Boxing
Federation (FFB).
26-year-old
Bellais, who has a professional
record of 17-6-3 (7), was born
in Tahiti but has spend much of
his career fighting in France.
Exactly half of his bouts has
taken place in France, while the
other half were fought in French
Polynesia.
George “Hit
Hard” Hillyard (30) is a former
British Masters Champion from
the Canning Town district in
East London, and brings a 12-6-1
(6) record in the paid ranks.
This will be his first fight
outside of the United Kingdom,
since turning pro in 2005.
Not only the
WBF Intercontinental title will
be at stake, as the winner could
be in line to fight for the WBF
World title, currently held by
Germany’s Bernard Donfack, who
is set to defend the title on
August 7 in Columbia against
Alexander Brand.
