World Boxing
Federation (WBF) World Super
Middleweight Champion Bernard
Donfack, 22-11-3 (11), will
travel to Bogota, Colombia to
make his second title-defense,
when he takes on dangerous local
challenger Alexander Brand, 23-1
(19), on Sunday August
9.
Originally
from Cameroon but based in
Germany for his entire
professional career,
Donfack won
the WBF World title in May 2014
with a tenth round stoppage of
Argentinean Javier Alberto
Mamani, and
successfully
defended five months later with
a unanimous decision over German
Christian Pawlak.
The
35-year-old Berlin-resident
stayed busy this past May with a
victory over undefeated Swede
Oscar Ahlin (12-0), whom he
thoroughly dominated to earn a
unanimous decision in Denmark.
With six victories in a row,
Donfack is reportedly well up
for the task at hand in
Colombia.
Former WBF
International Champion Alexander
Brand (38) will finally get a
crack at world honors, after
turning professional in 2009 and
beating every foe put in front
of him, except one. In May 2012
he lost a split decision to
current WBC World Champion Badou
Jack in Las Vegas, a fight many
felt he deserved to win.
Since then he
has put together a six-fight
winning streak against good
opposition, including a
convincing shut-out decision
over South African former WBF
world champion William Gare to
lift the WBF International crown
in October 2012.
Having fought
outside of Germany on eleven
previous occasions, Donfack will
not be fazed by taking on Brand
on his home turf, and Brand is
bound to be inspired by the
backing of his local fans. Both
boxers are hungry for continued
success, and everything points
towards a very exciting night of
boxing in Bogota on August
9.
