After thorough considerations,
the World Boxing Federation
finally presents a new
Continental Coordinator for
North America (USA and Canada)
with Keith Terceira from
Cedarville in Arkansas taking
over the reigns.
50-year-old Terceira (Pictured
with trainer Emmanuel Steward),
originally from Illinois and of
Portugese ancestry, has an
extensive list of
accomplishments in professional
boxing. Besides being a
successful trainer, matchmaker,
manager and advisor over the
years, more recently he became
known as an accomplished writer
for at least half a dozen major
publications and boxing
historian.
Terceira’s involvement in the
sport started in the late 60ies
as an amateur boxer, but after
recurring shoulder injuries
prevented him from turning pro,
he shifted his attention mainly
to writing, having also been
involved in creating content for
various television stations. He
became known to a wider public
for closely covering the
financial and contractual issues
between Manny Pacquaio and Marco
Antonio Barrera that resulted in
a successful lawsuit for
Pacquiao.
Terceira also joines the
Championship Committee of the
World Boxing Federation, taking
over from Germany’s Olaf
Schroeder, the European
Continental Coordinator, who
vacated this position after
being promoted to the post of
Executive Director.
"This is a unique
personal opportunity, a chance
to build a bridge between
continents, I look foward to
working with promoters and
boxers to create champions in
North America, opening more
avenues around the world for our
boxers to showcase their
skills." Terceira commented.
Vice President Matteo Fratini
from Italy will take Schroeder’s
place in the Executive
Committee. Finally, Dr. Adam
Balogh from Bremen in Germany is
named the World Boxing
Federation’s Chief Medical
Officer and assigned to create
worldwide medicals guidelines
for WBFed championship bouts as
well as creating a certification
process for ringside physicians. |
