The vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Womens
International Flyweight title
will be on the line when
compatriots Isabel “La Estrella”
Millan
and Cecilia “La Artillera”
Santoscoy square off on Saturday
August 29 in Montemorelos, Nuevo
Leon, Mexico.
30-year-old Millan
turned professional in 2011, and
won her first four bouts in
convincing fashion before going
through a rough patch in 2013
with a draw and a loss in
consecutive fights. She came
back strong and won six on the
spin, before coming up short
last year against 28-7-1 former
world champion Esmeralda Moreno.
Millan
returned with a victory this
past May, knocking out America
Guerrero in five rounds, and
with her fine pro record
standing at 11-2-1 (7), she is
reportedly in top shape and
ready to take on Santoscoy in
what should be an action packed
encounter.
While Cecilia Santoscoy (28)
brings a less than stellar
ledger on paper, she is known to
be a very capable boxer. With
only four bouts currently
recorded (2-2, 1 KO) she went
ten rounds in her latest bout,
capturing a minor title in the
process with a unanimous
decision over Muraima Sanchez.
The Millan
vs. Santoscoy WBF International
title fight will be promoted by
Uppercut Promotions, on a card
otherwise featuring local talent
in interesting match-ups.
