Myriam Dellal from France and
Bulgarian Milena Koleva are set
to fight for the vacant World
Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens
World Light Welterweight title
on Friday October 9 in Clermont
Ferrand, France.
Dellal,
11-5-3 (2),
turned professional in 2008 and
has won French national titles
at Super Featherweight and
Lightweight.
She twice challenged for
European crowns, and last year
she won a regional championship
by defeating the always game
Loli Munoz from Spain.
Having
only come up short against
top-class opposition, this will
be her first challenge for a
world championship, and while
she must be considered a
favourite fighting on home soil,
Dellal
(36)
can expect a tough assignment in
27-year-old Koleva.
Nicknamed “Hells Baby”, Milena
Koleva also made her paid debut
in 2008. While her 6-5-1 (0)
record looks mediocre on paper,
she has proved on several
occasions that she can fight and
be successful at a very high
level.
In 2011 she fought to a draw
against Finland´s undefeated Eva
Wahlstroem, who went on to
capture the European and WBC
World Super Featherweight
titles, and in 2012 she beat
Nicole Boss from Switzerland,
who would later win the European
Lightweight crown.
In her most recent outing, this
past June, Koleva won a minor
title with a shut-out ten-round
unanimous decision over
Brazilian champion Aline de
Cassia Scaranello (8-1) in
Germany, so she will face Dellal
full of confidence that she can
take home the WBF world title.
The
Myriam Dellal vs. Milena Koleva
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
World Light Welterweight title
fight will be promoted by Pierre
Robin.
