23-year-old Frenchman Jean
Moraiti will take on
experienced
Georgian
Anzor Gamgebeli for
not one but
two World
Boxing Federation (WBF) Light
Welterweight championships on
Saturday October 31 in his
hometown of Aubagne.
Promoted by
Le Noble Art
Aubagnais,
the vacant WBF International and
the vacant WBF Eurasia crowns
will be at stake,
and both
Moraiti, 10-8-4 (0), and
Gamgebeli, 23-10-3 (9),
promise to
go all out
to win what will be their first
titles in the
paid
ranks.
Moraiti
turned professional in April
2011, and has had mixed results.
But he proved his worth by
beating 7-1 Morgan Ndong Zue and
8-0 Mohamed Ayyad last year, and
in his most recent outing when
he lost a close decision to 13-0
Deniz Ilbay for an IBF title in
Germany this past July.
Gamgebeli, also only 23 years
old, entered the pro game in
2010 and has twice challenged
for European titles, coming up
short against Timo Schwarzkopf
(13-0) and Bradley Skeete
(18-1). He is coming off a
victory over journeyman George
Zuroshvili in September.
While neither boxer are
punchers, both are reportedly in
great shape and determined to
make the most of the big
opportunity. Important
ingredients for an entertaining
fight, and whoever emerges
victorious will elevate his
career to even bigger challenges
in the future.
