True to his promise of an
“exciting 2016 for the worldwide
WBF family”, President Howard
Goldberg today announced the
III. WBF World Convention for
this coming September in the
beautiful Slovenian holiday
resort of Maribor.
Historic Maribor, first
mentioned as a city in the year
1254, was “European Cultural
Capital 2012” and is famous for
offering the oldest wine in the
world. Its’ beautiful scenery at
the green foothills of the
Pohorje mountains makes Maribor
a tourism favorite as well as a
sports and wellness hotspot.
The convention will take place
at the luxurious Hotel Habakuk,
which aside from spacious
convention facilities offers a
full range of wellness
opportunities. While just a
short taxi away ride from the
ancient city center, Hotel
Habakuk is located right at the
edge of Pohorje forest, making
it ideal for a “something for
everybody” event.
“I
am very pleased about the
tremendous support we have
received from the city of
Maribor, as well as Ninoslav
Vidovic, director of Hotel
Habakuk, and Tomaz Barada, who
is probably the best-connected
sports person of his country,”
said WBF President Goldberg, and
explained that the site is most
fitting for the WBF:
“We don’t want to come across as
a glittering sanctioning body,
because the WBF is about the
sport and not about show or a
great cover with a rotten
inside. The WBF is the
kind of close-knit family that
others pretend to be. And this
we want to celebrate with our
champions, our staff and their
families in this great place in
Slovenia.”
The III. WBF World Convention
will start on Sept. 22 and run
to Sept. 25 and all details will
soon be published on this
website.
