The World
Boxing Federation recently
joined its WBF Women’s World
Super Bantamweight champion
Karine Rinaldo of France in
supporting the Association
Soleil Bleu Azur (“Azure Sun”).
The goal of the association is
to bring a smile to the faces of
children suffering from cancer
and other serious diseases and
are hospitalized for treatment.
Rinaldo, a former European
champion who became WBF world
title holder in her last fight
in November 2015, is a longtime
and ardent supporter of Soleil
Bleu Azur and approached the
World Boxing Federation at the
occasion of her championship
fight in Marseille for help.
WBF Vice President Jean Marcel
Nartz immediately promised
assistance, saying:
“To
see children suffering from
disease is the most terrible
thing, and while it’s obviously
not in our powers to do
something about the actual
medical situation, at least we
can try to lift their spirits.”
The donation
of the WBF, consisting of
electronic games as well as a
wide range of merchandise items,
was distributed by the
26-year-old world champion
herself in both La Timone and
San Salvator hospitals in
Marseille and well received.
Now sporting a record of 14-1-1
(5), Rinaldo is mandated to make
her first defense against
current Interim world champion
Gabisile Tshabalala, 9-1-1 (0),
from South Africa.
