Even though the WBFed has become
a sound commodity these days,
the saying "it's the match that
makes the fight" is more than
appropriate for the forthcoming
world heavyweight championship
clash betweem Evander Holyfield
and Sherman Williams on November
5.
The aging Holyfield, now well
past his Silver Jubilee
in professional boxing (since
his unlucky bronze medal in the
LA Olympic Games of 1984), is
still living up to his nickname
"The Real Deal" by setting
standards inside the squared
circle.
The site of this memorable
encounter, the Joe Louis Arena
in Detroit, is not without
significance, as the "Brown
Bomber" ranks among the very
best of those who conquered the
"Richest Prize in Sports".
Evander Holyfield, one of the
most remarkable men ever to have
donned gloves, is still
surprising his followers as well
as his critics in
his everlasting pursuit of his
ultimate dream. It remains to be
seen how "cooperative" Sherman
"Tank" Williams will be when the
"shake hands and come out
fightin'" has been heard. |
