On the initiative of the World
Boxing Federation, the world’s
most important internet boxing
statistic website boxrec.com has
now included Latin American
rankings into their service. The
WBFed is a partner of boxrec.com,
adopting their world rankings
and thus became (together with
the IBO) one of only two
sanctioning organizations who
have an absolutely neutral
ranking system.
Giving testament to the
continued worldwide expandation
of the World Boxing Federation,
it is no surprise that interest
arose in the WBFed Latin
American championships. To
further facilitate this growth,
the WBFed proposed to boxrec to
start independent computer
rankings for this region.
The WBFed’s Continental
Coordinator for Latin America,
Sergio Sotelo of Mexico, is
confident that boxrec’s new
Latin Rankings are a step
forward:
“I’d like to thank our friends
from boxrec for now providing
Latin American rankings that
will help us in our regions to
become a more recognizable and
respected boxing organization,”
Sotelo commented, while Graham
Pearman, working for boxrec,
shares this view, saying:
“It (the Latin American ratings)
gives the Latin guys something
to aim for and puts their names
firmly in the hat. I like the
concept.” |
