Now
campaigning as a Bantamweight,
former World Boxing Federation
(WBF) Intercontinental Flyweight
Champion Doctor Ntsele won the
WBF All Africa title on Friday,
June 24, when he scored a
unanimous decision over fellow
countryman Tendani
Munyai in Johannesburg, South
Africa.
Ntsele, also a former South
African national titlist at
Flyweight, seems well adjusted
to the higher weight and was in
full control for most of the
fight. Munyai was game
throughout, but the more
experienced Ntsele never allowed
him to have too much success.
After twelve rounds of boxing,
judges Boitumelo Madiba and
Sylvia Mokaila scored the fight
118-110, while judge Ben Ncapai
saw it 119-109. Referee in
charge of the action was Simon
Mokadi.
On a card promoted by Victory
Promotions, the new champion
improved his record to 19-8-1
(12), and Munyai falls to
12-10-3 (7).
In the
evenings co-feature, WBF Womens
International Bantamweight
Champion Matshidiso Mokebisi,
5-5-1 (2) retained her title
with a unanimous decision over
Nathaline Bania, 4-5-1 (2), from
Uganda.
Simon Mokadi
scored 96-93, Ben Ncapai 97-92
and Sylvia Mokaila 97-92, all in
favor of Mokebisi. Referee was
Boitumelo Madiba.
