World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Asia Pacific Bantamweight
Champion Kenny Demecillo is set
to defend his title against
fellow Filipino Rambo Lagos on
Saturday July 30 at the
Robinsons Galleria Cebu Atrium
in Cebu City, Philippines.
24-year-old Demecillo, 10-3-2
(7), won the WBF title in
September 2015 when he stopped
Daryl Basadre in eight rounds in
General Santos City, and
retained it last December with a
draw against former Super
Flyweight world champion Edrin
Dapudong.
In Rambo Lagos, 8-1-2 (5), he
will be facing a young (21 years
old) and hungry challenger, who
is eager to get back on track
after suffering his careers
first defeat this past May, when
he got the short end of a very
close decision against
undefeated (36-0) Tassana
Sanpattan in a regional title
fight in Thailand.
Rambo Lagos, real name Eugene
Gajo Lagos, won the Asian Boxing
Federation Bantamweight title in
January of this year with a
unanimous decision over tough
campaigner Gerpaul Valero, and
the close loss to the vastly
more experienced Sanpattan
showed that he is a very
promising prospect.
While Demecillo has beaten
better opposition than Lagos,
this must be considered a tough
and dangerous assignment for the
defending champion, and the
match-up has all the ingredients
to be a very exiting shoot-out
between hard-punching
youngsters.
The Demecillo vs. Lagos WBF Asia
Pacific Bantamweight title fight
is the main event of Omega Pro
Sports International’s second
installment of the “Who’s Next?
Pro Boxing Series”. The event
will be free to the public, and
a large turn-out is expected.
