The final program of the upcoming III. World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Convention in Maribor, Slovenia (September 22 – 25) has now been announced by General Secretary Diana Spasova, including details of the WBF Championship Boxing Night on the Saturday, which features a total of three WBF title bouts.

The full program including a precise time schedule can be found on the special Convention section of this website by clicking here.

Televised by RTV Slovenija (who will also broadcast the official Convention Opening Ceremony on Thursday afternoon) the huge international WBF championship triple-header will take place at the Dvorana Tabor Hall – just a stone’s throw away from the posh Hotel Habakuk, which hosts the WBF Convention – on Saturday evening, September 24.

WBF International Light Welterweight Champion Jean Moraiti from France is set to make his long-awaited first defense of the title he won last October, when he takes on highly experienced former world title-challenger Mikhail Avakyan from Georgia.

Moraiti, 12-9-1 (0), beat another Georgian, Anzor Gamgebeli, to become champion on home ground in Aubagne, and now he is travelling to Slovenia to fend off the challenge of Avakyan, 36-26-4 (20), who lost a split decision to Englishman Chris Goodwin for the WBF World Welterweight crown on short notice in 2014.

Also on the card, undefeated 22-year-old Malta-based Libyan Malik Zinad, 5-0 (4), will attempt to get his career on a fast-track when he fights battle-tested Hungarian Attila Palko, 23-25 (15) for the vacant WBF International Light Heavyweight title.

Finally, rounding out the card promoted by Tomaz Barada and former two-time world champion Jan Zaveck, entertaining South African David Rajuli, 7-5-1 (2), is paired with Georgian Giorgi Gachechiladze, 21-23-1 (14), to decide the vacant WBF International Super Featherweight championship.
