Korean superstar Ju Hee Kim
overcame huge obstacles to win
the vacant World Boxing
Federation female light
flyweight title against Jujeath
Nagawa from the Philippines on
September 12 in Anyang, South
Korea.
Suffering from a broken nose as
well as a hugely swollen
left eye, the 24-year-old Kim
still managed to come out
victorious by a majority
decision (99:92, 97:95, 95:95)
against the tough Nagawa.
"The problem was that Kim was
looking for the knockout punch
and this lead to her getting hit
more than necessary, and there
were also some head butts," said
the WBF Asia-Pacific Coordinator
Jung Moon Ho. Kim improved her
record to 14-1-1 (6 KO's) and
impressed the audience at the
Ann Yang Stadium with her guts
to continue the fight despite
her handicaps.
"It is an honor for me to have
received this opportunity to
become champion of the World
Boxing Federation!
I am very proud!", proclaimed
Kim after the fight. |
