SSL Sport & Eventpromotion, and
history-making fifteen year old
promoter Ranee Schroeder,
presented Sunday morning boxing
(start-time 11 AM) on December
18 at the Sportpalast in
Bielefeld, Germany, with two
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
title fights topping the bill.
WBF International Light
Heavyweight Champion Malik Zinad
(23), born in Libya but based in
Malta, had little trouble with
Georgian challenger Beka
Aduashvili, dominating from the
get-go and scoring a convincing
stoppage in the fifth round.
Zinad out-boxed his foe with
quick punches to body and head,
but Aduasvili was dangerous in
spots when he countered and
Zidad neglected to keep focus on
his defense. The end came when a
short right hand send Aduashvili
down for an eight-count, and
Zinad followed up to finish him
off with a right uppercut. Time
of stoppage was 1:53.
Having won the title last
September, Southpaw Zinad, who
is managed by former World Light
Heavyweight Kingpin Donny
Lalonde, improved his
professional record to 7-0 (6).
Aduashvili, still only nineteen
years old, goes back to Georgia
at 19-9 (9).
At Lightweight, Frenchman Jean
Moraiti won by second round
technical knockout over Nikoloz
Berkatsashvili from Georgia, who
stepped in on short notice when
original opponent Michal Dufek
pulled out, to capture the
vacant WBF International title
and the UBO Inter-Continental
title.
Berkatsashvili had a good first
stanza, which he won with the
cleaner punches landed, but in
round two Moraiti took over and
scored a knock-down with a left
hook to the body, followed by
three more knock-downs to force
the stoppage at 2:55 of the
round.
After losing the WBF
International Light Welterweight
title three months ago, Moraiti
rebounded well at his new weight
and took his record to 14-10-4
(2). Berkatsashvili drops to
27-16 (10).
The two World Boxing Federation
(WBF) title fights were
supported by three undercard
fights, and live music
entertainment at the intimate
and packed venue. It is fair to
say that the young promoter got
off to a good start in a tough
business.
Besides the German Boxing
Association donating their
standard fees to the cause,
German Champions Elvis Hetemi
and Angelo Frank boxed for free
in a quest to raise donations
for the family of stablemate
Eduard Gutknecht, who is
hospitalized in Germany fighting
for recovery from the injuries
he suffered against George
Groves last month.
