Martin Antonio Coggi came up
short in a close fight for the
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
World Light Welterweight title
against Christopher Sebire in
France last October, but now he
is ready to start the road back
towards a new shot at world
honours.
On Saturday May 20 the son of
former world champion, and
Argentinian icon, Juan Martin
Coggi, will take on another
Frenchman in Lyes Chaibi for the
vacant WBF Intercontinental
Light Welterweight title, this
time on home soil in Buenos
Aires.
A former South American
champion, 33-year-old Coggi has
been a professional for almost
twelve years, and holds a very
respectable 33-7-3 (16) record.
Having performed at high level
against Sebire, he is eager to
build on that experience and
earn another crack.
In fellow Southpaw Lyes Chaibi
(33), he will be facing a tricky
opponent who has blown hot and
cold since entering the paid
ranks in 2011. At 15-10-2 (3),
he has experienced a bit of
everything against some very
good adversaries, and as is the
case with most French fighters
he is very game and durable.
In November of 2015 Chaibi was
narrowly outpointed by Andrea
Scarpa in Italy, with the IBF
Intercontinental title up for
grabs, and more than a few
ringsiders felt he could have
been declared the winner that
night. Against Coggi he gets a
new chance to win a title, and
he plans to make the most of it.
Televised in Argentina by CN23,
the Martin Antonio Coggi vs.
Lyes Chaibi WBF Intercontinental
Light Welterweight title fight
headlines a show promoted by
